The tariffs behind this calculator
| Where | Electricity, homes | Other charges |
|---|---|---|
| Saudi Arabia (SEC) | 18 halalas per kWh up to 6,000 kWh; 30 halalas above | Meter fee 10 to 30 SAR; VAT 15% |
| Dubai (DEWA) | 23, 28, 32 and 38 fils per kWh in slabs of 2,000 kWh; fuel surcharge 6 fils | Water by m³, meter charges, VAT 5%, sewerage and the 5% housing fee |
| Bahrain (EWA) | Non-Bahraini: 32 fils per kWh. Bahraini, one home: 3, 9, 16 and 32 fils | Water 775 fils per m³ for non-Bahraini accounts |
Each slab's rate applies only to the units inside it. Using more in one month moves only the extra units to the higher rate.

Frequently asked questions
Why is my summer bill so much higher?
Air conditioning can triple your use, and the higher slabs cost more per kWh. In Saudi Arabia every kWh above 6,000 costs 30 halalas instead of 18.
Do expats pay a different rate?
In Saudi Arabia and Dubai the home tariff is the same for everyone. In Bahrain, Bahraini citizens get lower rates for one home and other accounts pay 32 fils per kWh.
What is the housing fee on my DEWA bill?
It is the Dubai Municipality fee: 5% of your annual rent, paid in 12 monthly parts through DEWA. Tenants pay it once the lease is registered in Ejari.
How do I read my meter?
Write down the number on the meter, and again a month later. The difference is your use in kWh.
