When does Ramadan 1448 begin?

By the Umm al-Qura calendar, the first day of Ramadan 1448 AH is expected to be Monday 8 February 2027, and Eid al-Fitr on Tuesday 9 March 2027. The Day of Arafah is expected on Saturday 15 May 2027 and Eid al-Adha on Sunday 16 May 2027.

These are calendar dates. Saudi Arabia and most Gulf countries confirm the start of Ramadan and the Eids by sighting the new moon on the evening of the 29th, so the actual day can be one day later.

How long is the fast?

The fast lasts from Fajr until Maghrib. In Ramadan 1448, which falls in February and March, days are short in the northern half of the world, so the fast is about 13 hours in the Gulf and a little shorter in South Asia. The table above compares cities on the first day.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the fast get longer during Ramadan 1448?

Ramadan 1448 runs from February into March, when days in the northern half of the world grow longer, so each fast is a few minutes longer than the day before.
